In this online, hands-on lab class, students will explore the wonders of the universe through model building and activities. Topics include the Sun, the planets, the solar system's size, comets, asteroids, and meteoroids, low-mass and high-mass star life cycles, black holes, nebulae, and craters. Students will build models of asteroids and comets, "travel" to each planet to observe interesting phenomena, create a nebula in a bottle and a high-mass/low-mass star life cycle mobile, view the Sun using special solar glasses, and more. Depending on your child's age and abilities, an adult may need to help with lab setup.
I will provide a kit that contains the majority of the supplies needed for the class. Additional common household items will be needed. (Supplies list to be completed soon). Students will need to print worksheets from my website. I will also provide detailed lab setup instructions/photos and links to videos related to topics covered in the classes (optional to watch).
