Students will learn how organisms interact with each other and their environment. Some of the topics to be explored through hands-on activities and models include biotic/abiotic factors, biomagnification, biomes, symbiosis, limits on population size, energy flow in an ecosystem, how biologists estimate populations, mining, the atmosphere, and the carbon cycle. Note: Climate change will not be discussed in this class.

Activities include analyzing what food and clothing is best in space, designing/building/testing water filters to recycle water, building a popsicle-stick "robot" arm, investigating soil on the moon's surface, simulating fluid shift in the body in space, and more.
